3 Of The Best Natural Ingredients for Sensitive Skin
When it comes to self-care, one of the very best ways to make yourself feel good from head to toe is to give your skin a treat. As the largest organ in the body, it’s important to look after your skin - and you’ll soon know about it if a problem manifests, with sore and cracked skin causing lots of upset and even potentially affecting your mental health.
Some people do have more sensitive skin than others but the good news these days is that there are countless different products out there that can help protect the skin’s natural barrier and keep irritation at bay.
Remember that a lot of commercial soaps contain harsh detergents and synthetic irritants that will strip your skin of its natural oils, which can then lead to dryness and irritation… so if you have been suffering of late, it could be down to what you’re using each day.
To help you work out which ingredients are particularly good for sensitive skin, here are just three of our very favourites… all of which can be found in our lovely range of organic skincare products, which are all 100 per cent natural and skin-loving - perfect for those with sensitivity concerns.
Shea butter
Shea butter is fat that’s been extracted from the nuts of the shea tree, native to West Africa… and it’s been used as an ingredient in cosmetics and skincare for centuries!
It’s safe for all skin types and contains no chemical irritants so it won’t cause dryness or irritation and it won’t clog your pores or cause oiliness. In fact, because it’s rich in lots of different fatty acids, shea butter could actually help your skin clear excess oil and sebum, helping to prevent acne and breakouts.
Coconut oil
Coconut oil is really good for your skin, sensitive or otherwise, helping to reduce inflammation and acne, as well as boosting hydration levels. If you’re prone to eczema, perhaps find a product that contains coconut oil and see just how effective it can be.
British white clay
Clay masks are brilliant for exfoliating and balancing the skin, but if you’ve got sensitive skin you might well have struggled in the past to find a product that doesn’t have an adverse effect.
Look out for products that are made of British white clay, as this is mild enough to be used on sensitive skin - and you’ll be pleased to hear that every soap in our lovely range contains at least a small amount of this. Perfection!
